Sisterly Love

You were lying on the bed and bonding with baby Malkah, who was then two months old. You turned to me and said: "I love baby Malkah! Mommy are we keeping her?"

Mushkie Berger was helping mommy out by supper time. You reached over to grab the ketchup. When she asked you if you're allowed topour it by yourself, you answered: "I can pour ketchup by myself when mommy leaves the room..." (I was in middle of walking out of the room!)

You were playing hide and seek with Adele Hess and told her: "You count and we'll hide in the closet!"

No! Not Soap Again!

Today, Mommy caught you pouring all the handsoap into the sink and washing your hands in it! I told you how disappointed I was and you answer was: "Mommy, I have so many germs on my hands!"

• Tatty was telling you and Sruli that if you get out of bath and are wild you can crack your head chas vshalom. You piped up and said: "If our head's gonna crack, we won't be a kid anymore. And then our knees will crack and our tummies..."

• You were talking with ta about how there are goyishe people and Jewishe people

• You wanted to watch a video for more time before you went to bed, so you told mommy you were going to stay home. You announced to Sruli that he is going to school tomorrow and then turned to mommy and proclaimed: "Mommy, tomorrow I'm sick, okay?"

• You were walking home with Ariella and picked a flower. Ariella explained to you that if you pick a flower, it won't be with its family anymore and the family will be so sad. You walked a few steps and picked a whole bunch of flowers, with which you turned to Ariella and exclaimed: "This flower's family is happy, cuz they came along too!"

• Before we moved into our new home on Plamondon, you asked mommy if were still going to be Jewish when we move...

• We were walking home together and you saw a leaf. It had been covering an ant on the sidewalk. When you kicked it and all of a sudden saw an ant there, you screamed: "Mommy, I turned it into an ant!"

• We were sitting by the table and tatty was taking a long time explaining to you and Sruli about asher yatzar and how were are thanking Hashem...After about ten minutes of listening, you put your face in your palms and asked seriously: "So tatty what are you saying?"

• On Vov Tishrei, you came home from school and said "Today, I learned how Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka had nothing to do so she went to the farm and plucked blueberries."

• For the first few weeks after we moved in, we constantly kept reminding about walking feet and how we have to be so quiet because Jack and Esther (the neighbors downstairs) are sleeping. As we were walking out one day, you saw Esther in front of her door and exclaimed: "Mommy, look, Esther is awake! " You thought they slept all day!!

• When we moved in, you were setting up the night table drawer with diapers, wipes...You closed the drawer and announced: "This is the tushie drawer!"

• We were singing "Little miss matzo sat on her tuches..." from a book we had taken out of the library, when you piped in: "That's potty talk" and from then on, proceeded to change the words to "Little miss matzo sat on her untervesh!"

Jewish?!

You asked me the other day: "Mommy, when we move are we still going to be Jewish?"

Friends Forever!

Forgot one :)

When you were about 2 yrs old, you had just come out of the bath and Mommy was holding you in your towel like a baby. I was rocking you and feeling really emotional, thinking about how big you had become and how I used to do this with you as a baby. As I'm sharing these thoughts with you and really feeling the moment, you looked into my eyes and said: "Mommy, you have boogers in your nose." 

Shpeshal Kush

1) Mommy gave you strawberries in the morning. You asked where they come from. I told you they come from a bush. You exclaimed: "I go potty in the bush!" Mommy quickly reassured you that strawberries don't grow in THAT bush! To which, you answered, " No, it's called a Potty Bush!"

2) Tatty was putting you to bed and you had to give Tatty a shpeshal kush for Mommy also. You asked: "Tatty, what's mammy's name to you?" He answered: "It's called a wife", to which you said: "This shpeshal kush is for your wife."

3) We were out at the ice cream store, when you saw a Chinese lady sitting in front of a restaurant. You turned to Mommy and stated: "Mommy, you know that lady has her eyes closed a lot, because a lot of people touch them!"

April 2012-3 1/2 years old

Pesach

1) You had just learned about bedikas chometz in daycare...You came home with your haggadah and bedikas chametz kit. You took out out the feather, spoon and candle and started walking around looking for chometz. You saw mommy's rice cake on the kitchen counter. put candle near it and said: "WE ARE BURNING THIS!"

2) Family went on a trip during chol hamoed. When we got to the mall and were walking through sears, you exclaimed, looking around: "Wow! Look at this museum!!"

April 2012- 3 1/2 years old

Girlie Girl

1) Esty was reading you a story, then she started saying that she really wanted to go downstairs and eat.

You switched to a very serious tone and told her "Daughter, you need to relax! Mommy is going to read you a story, and then you can go downstairs. You need to relax"

2) You were taking a bath, and playing with all the Ballys. Mommy was resting her cheek on a red Bally. 

All of a sudden you said "Mommy are you holding my daughter?". 

Mommy was very surprised and said "I guess so".

So in a very stern voice you said "please put her back in my house".

Then you made Mommy put the Bally back in the bath.

3) Tatty was scolding you for coloring with a marker on yourself and your clothes.

So you looked at Tatty, cupped your cheeks in your hands and said "Tatty, I just try to be good, I'm only a little girl".

4) You were walking with Mommy past Yeshiva, when all of a sudden you said "I need to put on makeup"

You stopped (completely blocking traffic) took off your backpack, took out a container, pulled out a mini spoon, and started to rub it all over your cheeks, eyes and face.

When you were done, you turned to Mommy and said "See, that's how you put on makeup!"

5) Right after Pesach cleaning your room, you were really in the Pesach spirit, so you turned to Mommy and asked "Do we sleep on Pesach?".

Therapist

Mommy and Bubby were having a conversation in the car. You had just woken up from sleeping in the back and were listening to us quietly. All of a sudden you piped up: "Bubby," We both turned around to listen to you. "You need to take care of yourself!"

Zaidy was getting ready to go to shul in the morning and you asked him: "Zaidy, where are you going?" He answered that he is going to shul, to which you responded: "That's very nice Zaidy!"

Sweet Dreams!!

1) Tatty was putting you to bed and he told you to have sweet dreams. You pulled his ear close and whispered in: "Tatty, I'm going to dream of you!"

2) Ariella told you to have sweet dreams. Then she asked you what you dream of. You answered her that you dream of Tatty, Mommy, Sruli and Chani sleeping. Then you continued and told her how they all dream of you sleeping too!

Super Lelli!

You had gotten dressed on your own, but had forgotten to put on your underwear. When mommy reminded you, you nonchalantly pulled them up over your tights, saving a whole bunch of steps!! I think you may start a new trend!

1) Tatty came to check on you in the bathroom.

You said: "Tatty, I'm still busy making a kaki. Tatty, go wait in the bedroom and I'll tell you when it's your turn."

Then you added: "Make me a favor and turn on the light and close the door!"

2) While making cookies with Bubby, a glass you were using broke and Bubby was telling how little pieces of glass were in the dough and on the table. Later you were telling me what you made: "I made cookies with bubby. We were rolling and there was glass!"

3) Tatty came home from work and you were already in your beds. You heard him come in and called downstairs: "Tatty, do you want to come up and give us some kushes??!!"

Feb 2012-3 1/2 years old

Your babysitter-Ariella :)

1) Ariella was teaching you about matanos laevyonim. She was saying how some kids don't have any toys or only have a few and you need to share with them. You turned to her and asked: "Do you want some of my toys??"

2) Mommy had to leave early to teach, so when Ariella came I wasn't there to show her around the kitchen. Right when she arrived, you took her to the kitchen and showed her everything she would need to know: Here's the food, and here's the snacks...Here's the supper...

3) You were trying to remember Mordechai's name, so you asked Ariella one day: "Who's that Jew of all the Yiddin?"

Pagologizing!

1) You were playing a game with Sruli and I was standing by the mirror with my long skirt near you. When I moved away, you screamed out: "Oh no! Our hiding place moved!" You had been using my skirt as a hiding place for all the toys you were putting on the side!!

3) You had hurt Sruli and Tatty put you in Time Out.

When you came out you were still crying and Tatty told you to say I'm sorry. Sruli saw you were upset and started saying apologizing to you.

Through tears, you said: "No sruli! I'm supposed to say sorry..."

1) You were watching Malkali Bereishis and when I called your name to come, you answered: "Mommy, but I'm watching Bereishis, Noach, Lech Lecha Vayeira Chayei Sara...!

2)I told you Tatty and I had decided that you're only going to watch videos an hour a day. You answered "oh ya yoy" mommy you're kidding!

3)I would explain to you that when Moshiach comes there will be candies on trees and the beis hamikdash. Once when we were talking about asking for Moshiach you said happily: "I'll daven to hashem that moshiach should come now and we'll go in the shomayim to the candy shul!"

4)Lelli's version of the 12 shvatim song: Reuven, Shimon...these are the 12 shmates!

5) You were talking with me about your new babysitter:

"When my babysitter Ariella comes, she's my mommy. and when you come back, you're my mommy. But you're still my mommy!"

6) Zaidy was saying how he used to bite candy when he was little. You answered: "When I was your age, I also did that" :)
